There were some errors in the Tandem Kayak category and the organizers are sending out new awards to those affected. Cliff and Stephen are fast paddlers. Jesse was smoking when he came across the finish line. Actually he looked like he was out for a cruise (missile ?).

CANOE AND KAYAK RACE - NEW DATE IS 10/8/11

  

New Date Confirmed: The 12th Annual Canoe and Kayak Race, benefiting the Milton Theatre, has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 8th. The race was originally scheduled for August 27th but was cancelled because of Hurricane Irene.

 

The Milton Chamber of Commerce events (Bargains on the Broadkill and the Great Duck Race) are also rescheduled for the same date.

 

Everything but the date will be the same as we've previously communicated. All the information can be found below. Click here.

 

If you are pre-registered/pre-paid and you will not be able to participate on our new date, please let us know so that we can provide a refund.

 

The Chamber's Bargains on the Broadkill will be held from 9 to 3 in the park, and will feature vendors, food, and music. The Milton Lions Club will be running the Milton Clipper Express train in the park throughout the day. The Great Duck Race will be held at 1 pm. Information on these events can be found at www.historicmilton.com.

 

The Milton Theatre's 12th Annual Canoe and Kayak Race will start at 10 a.m. at Oyster Rocks, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.   The ten mile race on the Broadkill River finishes at Memorial Park, with awards to the winners in each class. Information (including a map to Oyster Rocks) and a downloadable registration form for the race can be found at www.miltontheatre.org.

Day of Race Check-in Starts at 8:30 AM

Race Starts Promptly at 10 AM

Start - the end of Oyster Rocks Rd (off Rt 1 near Lewes)

Finish - Milton Memorial Park

  

The historic Milton Theatre brings the drama outdoors at the "wild & wet" 12th Annual Canoe and Kayak Race to support the future of the theatre. This popular race invites both pros and amateurs to paddle 10 miles on the beautiful, unspoiled Broadkill River for the greater glory of personal accomplishment, a bit of recognition and a medal.

 

Check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. at the end of Oyster Rocks Rd. (Rd 264), which is the starting point for the race.  You may also register at this time but we recommend that you register in advance.  Click here for registration form The first 100 to register receive a free commemorative t-shirt!  The registration form has the classes and costs. 

 

Starting Point:  The race begins at 10:00 a.m. from the end of Oyster Rocks Rd.  There is a tiny parking area at the launch site.  However, it is much better if you arranged to be dropped off.      Map to Oyster Rocks Road

 

Finish:  The race ends at Milton's Memorial Park to the sound of thunderous applause and the presentation of medals! 

 

In Memorial Park, the Bargains on the Broadkill event will be taking place with plenty to keep fans and families entertained until (and well-after) the arrival of our paddlers.
